As a lifelong athlete (I'm a passionate lacrosse player and rower), I have always had a fascination and reverence for the body, how it moves, and how we can best support it in living out our dreams. I studied exercise science in college, and spent the early part of my career working as both a manual therapist and lacrosse coach. Through these experiences, I began pulling on a few different threads of curiosity - how do we help people get out of pain, how do we help people move and perform better, and what is the relationship between the two?
The answers started to become more clear in the last five years as I have delved deep into the field of biomechanics, helping clients get out of pain, improve their posture, and move in a more integrated and efficient manner. As it turns out, *how* we move matters a whole lot; our mental and emotional states reflect our biology, and our biology is greatly impacted by how well we physically move through the world. It takes a lot of persistence and resilience to make these kinds of changes, and I noticed a lot of clients in the field would drop off after making some initial progress, leading to the next thread I pulled on...
"How do we support people in making lasting, meaningful change in their lives?"
... and that thread led me to OI.
