Frequently Asked Questions
OICC is a one-year, 200 hour online certification program in Post-Trauma Growth, with lifetime access. Get support from a team of experts and senior members of the OI community, many of whom have studied with Steve for over a decade.
Organic Intelligence® is a Level 1 Training Institute with the United States Association of Body Psychotherapy, their highest training designation. The OI Coach Certification is respected worldwide, with graduates successfully integrating OI techniques into their practices.
Organic Intelligence’s Trauma Safe™ approach is a fundamental departure from the status quo of treatment. OI identifies the risk of unrecognized harm that occurs in treatment with a negative intensity trauma focus. The OI Chapter, “Post-Trauma Growth: Guidelines & Guardrails” in Somatic-Oriented Therapies (Grassman, Stuppigia and Stephen Porges, editors) and the downloadable journal article on the OI website detail this innovative, positive psychology approach, called a “gentle revolution in healing.”
The OICC program is designed to be flexible, with a pacing that is intentional and easeful. Plan for 5 hours a week during each of the five 8-week modules in the OI Coach Certification. There are never more than 4 consecutive weeks without at least a week break. Lessons are distributed as short and digestible “bites” (10-20 minutes). Lessons are then built on in weekly experiential classes of Practice, Lab, and Coaching calls. The live class schedule has numerous options that fit easily into busy schedules.
The number of participants in the training is limited. Although OI feels a responsibility to provide this training to those with a sincere interest, the cohort is kept small enough to preserve personal connections and provide individual attention for students needs and their questions.
In collaboration with the OI BIPOC Facilitator team, OI provides a number of BIPOC grants in each cohort. Once those grant slots are filled, OI offers generous, no-interest payment plan options, but no other scholarships.
No, there are no additional fees or interest for our payment plans. It’s simply the tuition total divided by the number of months of your payment plan.
By enrolling now, you lock in your spot and avoid missing out. Waitlist members have been enrolling, and once public enrollment opens, spaces fill up fast. We keep enrollment limited to preserve the quality of the training experience. Also, special bonus packages are available only in the first week of public enrollment.
It has rightly been said, “Whatever the question, ultimately the answer is ‘community.“ Often, however a simulation of community is created through a shared vision, common purpose and common mission. This is, in our view, an artificial community, and not the OI approach, because 1) the collective exists only so long as the originators and beneficiaries succeed in invoking the mission and 2) because it is based in corralling effort or “doing.” We believe that one of the most important stepping stones are coming into relationship with states of NON-DOING. The automatic states of “doing” are those that frequently draw boundary lines between “us” and “them”. While in OI we enjoy common purpose, we take an organic, biological approach to community.
OI offers learning environments where trust is built organically over time. We create a culture of curiosity. We experiment with positive-reinforcement OI strategies, like the pleasure of valuing states of non-doing (ease, effortlessness, respite). Trust and our natural affiliative instincts naturally become, then, a context for the spontaneous emergence of emotional, relational aptitudes—like warmth, empathy, appreciation, love of beauty, altruism and compassion.
In the OI Trajectory—first in the OI Coach Certification (OICC) and next in the three classes of the OI HEART Coach program—we take the time to enjoyably unlearn the compulsion of “doing”–from which false personality is formed and is reinforced.
Instead, we try on the admittedly counter-cultural practice of observing, not forcing, and allowing. From this disciplined practice the extraordinary healing results characteristic of OI arise—all from a principled practice of Non-Doing. Whether online or in-person at this human system level makes little difference.
What matters is this gradual formation of a matrix of natural acceptance of self and other, and the resulting opportunity to experience real and lasting being, together. Ultimately, we recognize, practice and increasingly experience what community really means: a seamless and joyful participation in the community of all living beings.

A Personal Invitation from Steve Hoskinson
Dear future Organic Intelligence® Certified Coach,
In my 25+ year career as a teacher, this is absolutely the best learning and growing experience I’ve been a part of. There are so many other training opportunities out there, and surely most have legitimate teachings—but it can be hard to know where to invest, what will have legitimacy in the future and have lasting value.
The reality is that participants come out of our one-year training more connected, with greater expertise and knowledge, and feeling more whole.
How?
We’ve discovered how to teach Organic Intelligence® in a fully Organic Intelligence® way. Small steps, reiteration, lots of personal support, practice each week, carefully sequenced micro-skills, a more diverse teaching team and detailed video demonstration explanations where I can slow down the video and point out things that would have been missed, invisible in the former live setting.
The lasting value OI™ Certified Coaches receive is not just getting the most advanced skills or OI’s professional recognition. It’s that this is more than a training. It’s the hard-won know-how of how wisdom is cultivated, how compassion deepens and authenticity blossoms. What good would be even the best skills and knowledge if without heart or compassion?
If this makes sense to you, please know that you can bring your whole person into this training too—not perfect—just caring, and intending to help others.
I hope you’ll accept this heartfelt invitation and apply today.
Warmly,
Steve
