Working as an OI practitioner has been the culmination of many intersecting streams of learning in my life. My meditation practice began at age 10, and I’ve been a musician since the age of 5. I’ve spent extensive amounts of time studying with meditation masters in India and have toured the world as a musician. The common element between these practices and Organic Intelligence is bringing our systems into a harmonic balance. This is the essence of Organic Intelligence. When we are in a state of biological synchrony, we feel happy and come out of our negative habit patterns.
Ancient spiritual traditions have immense power, yet modern life has intensified the de-synchronization of our biology. As a result, many people find themselves in patterns of depression, shame, and anxiety, to name a few. Sitting for hours in meditation could potentially intensify these issues. Working in a therapeutic modality that excavates problems and re-traumatizes a client is potentially harmful. That’s where Organic Intelligence comes in. We learn to allow our biology to be in the present moment in a way that is natural and supportive. Since society has trained us to problem hunt, we benefit greatly from working with a coach to help us realize what is right about right now.
As an Organic Intelligence practitioner, I cultivate the intuitive knowledge gained in my own practices to properly attune to and guide the client. There are some things such as compassion, intuition, non-judgemental awareness, and attunement that cannot be learned in a textbook and I’ve spent a lifetime cultivating these qualities. My hope is that our session work can be a seed that continues to grow long after our time together.
