I am a white, straight, cis-gendered woman, working on my own embodied biases, knowing that my own deep personal work is the necessary basis for social transformation. I believe in our natural, human capacity for resilience, healing and growth. I practice meditation and ki-aikido, snatch time for singing and reading, and indulge my domestic self in cooking, gardening and knitting. I'm a cat person.
I understand that we all, no matter who we are, experience the trauma of living within the oppressive system of White supremacy.ย We are all impacted by racism, sexism, gender discrimination, ableism, weightism, homophobia and the destruction of nature.ย This trauma leaves us emotionally dysregulated and disconnected from ourselves, each other and nature. It shows up as unconscious and conscious biases and conditioned patterns of thinking and behavior that are held deeply in our minds and bodies. These patterns interact with our own developmental and personal traumas, leading us to experience anxiety, depression, symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders or substance abuse.
As we are able to develop more capacity, presence and connection, we are also more able to orient accurately to the oppression and harm of White supremacy โ and to mobilize to act together from our natural, human desire for equity and belonging for all. I welcome you to work in this embodied way to find your path to personal and collective healing and to become an effective ally for justice and equity.
I offer short-term coaching and longer term psychotherapy, and offer a free initial consult session. I pay one third of the income derived from OI coaching sessions in reparations to Breaths Together for a Change, a somatic healing program run by and for Indigenous people.
