“It’s easier to work with trauma
once you learn to work without it.”
— Steven Hoskinson, OI Founder
Trauma has been misunderstood and mistreated as primarily a psychological problem.
Trauma lands firstly in the biology, the focus of Organic Intelligence® Coaching.
When the biology comes back online, the person re-emerges.

and more confident and successful coaches—
without the usual anxieties or overwhelm.
Feel Secure Knowing How to Work More Safely
When you facilitate a client’s Post-Trauma Growth mode, they uncover their natural ability for healing and connecting—the opposite of trauma and freeze. Our humanity needs support to grow, not more high intensity in treatment.
OI Coaches discover the weave, in a conversational dance, where each client’s genius is seen and reflected. Working with OI’s ISOMA™ framework provides safe navigation through the client’s experience. There, the seeds of reintegration lie waiting for the right support—not just in cognition, not just emotion or sensation— but in the connection between the channels of the client’s experience: Image, Sensation, Orientation, Meaning and Affect (ISOMA).
The popular ideas of how therapy works, don’t work for everyone. We’ll discover how underneath the psychological theories of personality and trauma lies a physiology that’s more than ready to heal and grow. Like for a seed awaiting warmth and water, Organic Intelligence® Coaches learn to provide just the right support at the right time to catalyze growth. In the OI Coach-to-Client interactions, the simple wonders of human intactness emerge—wise and persistent.
Having been introduced in Module 1 to how Post-Trauma Growth happens therapeutically, next we take the experiential learning journey together in the End of Trauma Course. Here, each week provides a surprising yet soothing felt-sense of what Orientation and Auto-Organization feels like. You’ll experience the gentleness of the OI practices, and really feel the difference that comes by moving according to your own organic rhythm. We’ll experience the same ISOMA integration exercises and interventions that we’ll use with clients, really knowing by experience when, why, and how they work.
In Module 2, we’ll deepen the understanding of Post-Trauma Growth professional coaching. We’ll unpack the first OI map, the Attunement map, and how completely it informs work with the physiological programs of Fight/Flight/Freeze (FFF). We’ll also learn how to work with FFF as physical movement impulses to support key system skills for the client, including the client’s sense of boundaries. Most importantly, our systems learning includes understanding intensity thresholds and how to foster the innate ability to grow overall processing bandwidth.
We begin Module 3 with a practical excursion into network science and the brain science of associative networks. We’ll see how it’s necessary to train in a therapeutic improvisational conversation, the OI Free Association Conversation (FAC), in order to discover the relevant network for the day’s healing. In each meeting, in each coaching session, OI Coaches and therapists find and align with that day’s network and its healing states that arise spontaneously in free-form conversation. We’ll continue this exploration as we learn to work with the network interactions of Image, Sensation, Orientation, Meaning, and Affect (ISOMA). OI calls this: working with the “Complex du Jour”.
Module 4 is where it all comes together. All the modular practices we’ve been doing to this point form the Lego® blocks that you’ll see sequenced in your coaching work. This Module is built around seeing, practicing, and getting support and feedback on your work in OI. There will be regular demonstration sessions, demo reviews, and longer practices—including full, complete sessions. The practice sessions include self-analysis guided by the OICC Core Competencies, as well as small group consultations led by advanced OI Coaches, and direct and specific feedback by Steve and his team.

An Integrative Learning Process
Each week, the OI framework is explicated with carefully sequenced video lessons. Each video is brief and readily assimilable (5-20 minutes), and arrives daily in order to steadily and incrementally add to the students’ knowledge base.
OICC students work in small groups with exercises, questions, or worksheets, where they are asked to put together, see, and understand the interrelation of various components of OI theory and practice. Lab time also allows for analysis of video demonstrations and specific skills consolidation.
Get your questions answered and engage in the dialogue of learning and the exploratory culture of Organic Intelligence. Values inherent in the coaching environment are also exemplified in these meetings, like the value of curiosity, Orientation, call-and-response, attunement, positive reinforcement and the trial-and-error-and-success (feedback) process.
OI skills are “scaffolded”—skillsets build on previously incorporated skills, and woven together week by week. Practices are designed by Steven Hoskinson and debriefed afterwards in community discussion and Q&A.
Full length, demonstration sessions are reviewed. These sessions demonstrate Organic Intelligence theory and interventions for learning the attunement and immediacy of OI Coaching.
Detailed reviews of recorded demonstration sessions allow for moment by moment—sometimes second by second—analysis of OI demonstration sessions. Slow-motion replay allows students to see subtle micro-movements, affects, attentional shifts, and implications of thought and speech patterns (ISOMA*) as they reveal underlying physiological states that are the target of OI interventions.
