Genell Howell, LMHC, CSAC, SEP
Genell Howell is Training Coordinator at the Hawai’i 2 HEARTraining® and currently completing the OI Expert Master Class Program. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Hawai’i and a somatic practitioner with advanced training in mind-body therapies from Prescott College. With a primary focus on building resiliency, Genell has experience treating adolescents and young adults in a variety of therapeutic settings including residential treatment and wilderness-based models. She is currently a primary therapist for Pacific Quest located on the Big Island.
Genell has lived in Hawai’i for 11 years and considers the Big Island to be her heart based home. During her undergraduate studies at University of Hawai’i at Hilo, where she majored in Geography, she had a life altering experience after reading the book Bodymind by Ken Dychtwald. This set the path for a greater exploration in body related psychotherapy and understanding the deep rooted ability of the body to hold onto trauma.
Always a seeker in advancing her scope she has a 200 hour yoga certification and an active vipassana meditation practice. Genell believes that listening to the body, engaging in movement, and tuning into your environmental experience fosters the greatest capacity for one to heal themselves.
